- Throughout senior years mentoring younger students, understand how to make music makes sense.

My name is Suriya Umapathysivam, I am currently studying a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice (Music Education) at the Elder Conservatorium of Music. My goal is to evenuatlly because both a instrumental teacher and a classroom teacher. As part of my year 12 studies last year I coordinated and conducted the Walford Anglican School for Girls Junior School Flute Ensemble, I also completed Performance Special Study in Hairspray achieving a grade of an A. I have also acheived AMBE grade 5 in flute and have played the desk of tenor saxophone 1 in Walford Anglican School for Girls' senior stage band.
My developing teaching methodology is that if the student doesn't understand or 'don't get' a concept with the first explaintion it is my job as a teacher to have bank of other ways to explain the same one conecpt. If none of those help the student to understand I will seek advice for my colleges and do my own further research through other sources until the student understands, whilst having fun!
Having had private instrumental lessons for more than 10 years I understand that as well as wanting to better yourself and a performer and technical skills but you also want enjoy yourself and have alot of laughs along the way!
